How to Remove Pre-installed System files in Nokia Phones

Clearing system files is something else every Nokia user wants to perform in his mobile device as you will gain so much benefit from it. When I say Clearing System files in Nokia; it means removing permanent stored (unwanted and unnecessary) files in your Nokia phones like mobile applications, tones, graphics, default themes and other temporary files stored in the handset. They are called pre-installed apps or copyrighted items that were assigned by the manufacturer since before the handset was released.  I have always been thinking on how to remove all the unnecessary default themes, and all those default applications like tips and offer, currency converter, and opera mini browser default. I have always found a way of performing this task but I was not able to think fast enough that it was possible until a Nokia users demand for help on how to free up his phone memory and at last; I found this task so useful. The task can be performed by a computer (PC) and also easily using your Nokia mobile phone. Benefits of this task;

• Increase your phone operating speed.
• Freed up your memory for new files to be stored easily.
• Make backup of the old system files and install new software’s.
• Be able to modified and customize initial system files to your own taste.
• Be able to read and write previous system files.

This task can be performed in two ways; one was discovered by me and the other a reference by a friend of mine. The first step will on the tutorial on how to remove pre-existing gallery files like tones/wallpapers/bookmarks/graphics/frames/icons/alert and ring tones/clip art/and others e.t.c.

How to remove or delete unwanted Gallery files

    I will make an example with the tone like Nokia.aac or Tender.aac
    Assuming the file we want to delete is Tender.aac and is located in Gallery at tones folder.
    The first thing is to move any file to the Memory card folder or you can also move it to any folder located in Galley phone memory.
    The next thing to do is to use a File Manager like MiniCommander or Blueftp Medieval or UC Browser to locate and rename the file to the same tone file name to Tender.aac e.g. Nokia tune.aac to Tender.aac
    Now  exit the file manager and use your own phone file browser to mark and move the file the tones folder; (remember not direct move by pressing option move but rather pressing option but rather option – mark – and move. The next thing that will come up is “This item already exists”. Now go to Tones and navigate to Tender.aac; press option and the send and delete options will now be enable. This method you can use to remove alert tones, graphics and clip arts also.

How to remove Pre-Installed Applications and Games

    The first thing you are expected to do is create a backup in your Nokia phone by navigating to Main Menu – Settings – Synchronization and Backup – Create a backup. By creating a backup; the phone will ask you “Creating a backup may take several minutes. Do no remove Memory Card or switch off device during the backup”. Select continue by pressing the center menu button. The next thing is to mark feature option you want to backup and the feature we are working on is the applications and games option.
    Immediately after creating a backup; open Blueftp or Mini Commander (Most Recommended file manager). Locate the backup file and rename it to .zip archive. Usually the backup extension is stored in .NBF. Once you are able to rename to .zip; you will be able to see the inside content.
    Open and extract all the contents of the backup; open the predefjava – predefgames or predefcollections and start searching for the protected application you want. Exit the file browser and rename any file e.g. Opera Mini.jar and Opera Mini.jad; so you need to rename any file to that same name and format. After renaming the file; mark and move it to the collection option by pressing option to collections. The next thing to happen is “this item already exists”. Go to applications and press options; you will see the delete option enable and highlighted and you are good to go.
